[Saitama City] Ticket prices and discounts for the Railway Museum in

Omiya and diorama restaurants

I really feel like I’m on the train ♡

There are railway museums all over the country. By the way, I think there used to be the “Kyoto Railway Museum” when I lived in Kyoto. (⇒ No, there is!)

When I was in elementary school, I was unusually fond of the “Subway Museum” in Kasai, Edogawa Ward, so when Hatchan was two years old, I decided to go to the Railway Museum in Omiya, Saitama Prefecture. (⇒ It’s a little different from the subway!)

The theme of this “Going out with elementary school students in Tokyo!” Is the Railway Museum next to Omiya Station in Saitama Prefecture.

If you’re going out to Saitama City, check out this article!

Today, I went to the Railway Museum for the first time in a while, so I made major corrections.

How to get to the railway

It is one stop from Omiya station by New Shuttle.

The royal road is to go to the Railway Museum by train. Transfer to the New Shuttle from Omiya Station and get off at the first station, “Tetsudo Museum Station”. When you get off the station, there is a miracle (?!) Railway world unfolding ♡

I’m excited just to get on the New Shuttle!
わ~♡久々に来たなあ。Wow ♡
I’ve been here for a long time.
The New Shuttle ride time is 2 minutes.
There are lots of gacha-gacha in front of the ticket gate at Railway Museum Station!
I can’t stop feeling excited just by arriving at this station ♡

Railway Museum ticket prices! Free up to 2 years old ♡

Ticket prices for the Railway Museum have risen in the last three to four years

There is a locker on the right side of the entrance. It costs about 300 to 500 yen with cash only.

I thought the ticket price for the Railway Museum was expensive) for a public museum; (⇒ to the habit of saying a lot more expensive!)

It’s a railroad and a museum (?), So the fare is about 500 yen or 600 yen? I was thinking. However, in reality, this facility is very substantial, so if you think about it, it will be cheap.

<入場料 Admission fee>

Tickets cannot be purchased locally at the Railway Museum. In advance, you need to buy a timed “admission ticket” (limited number of tickets) at each terminal of Seven-Eleven, Lawson, and Ministop. (⇒ Corona made me annoyed!)

Advance price (until the day before)
General: 1,230 yen Elementary, junior high and high school students: 510 yen Toddler (3-6 years old): 210 yen
Same-day charge

General: 1,330 yen (advance sale + 100 yen) Elementary, junior high and high school students: 620 yen (advance sale + 110 yen) Infants (3-6 years old): 210 yen (advance sale + 100 yen)
Why is it 110 yen more than 100 yen for elementary, junior high and high school students on the day?
There is a disinfectant solution for infectious diseases at the entrance. Temperature measurement is automatic with a thermostat.

I went without any information in advance (2016), but the annual passport is cheaper than buying a regular ticket! I bought it thinking that. Certainly, the annual passport was about 2,000 yen.

Passport sales are suspended

しかし、ママ調べでは2018年7月より5,000円になり、2019年9月からは5,100円になっています。まるでディズニーじゃないですかw まあ、ディズニーと同じで、新館ができて遊べるところが増えたので、妥当ですけどね~。

However, according to Mama’s research, it has been 5,000 yen since July 2018 and 5,100 yen from September 2019. Isn’t it Disney? Well, like Disney, the new building has been built and there are more places to play, so it’s reasonable.

Is there a way to buy a ticket at a discount?

Hmmm. When I came after a long time, the entrance had changed a lot.

According to Mama’s research, you can get a 100 yen discount by purchasing a ticket (in convenience store) up to the day before, a group discount (20 people or more: 150 to 270 yen cheaper per person), and a 20% discount with a JR complimentary ticket. It seems to be.

It’s not very realistic except for the 100 yen discount in advance.

Railroad diorama has been changed to a limited number of people & commentary program only!

Diorama is one of the most popular facilities ♡

At the time of Corona, the railway diorama can no longer be viewed freely, and it seems that it has been changed to a commentary program only 11 times a day (!!). (No reservation required・ Limited time)

The diorama is an exhibition that makes both adults and small children shine ♪ I never get tired of seeing the model railroad that runs all the time ♡ By the way, after the renewal, there is no partition from the audience seats.

The restaurant is OK without reservation!

① Many people eat ekiben in free space

It is a menu of the Japanese restaurant
Ekiben is also one of the pleasures of the Railway Museum.

The restaurants are mainly “Train Restaurant Japan Diner” (where you can have a full-fledged meal on the train) and “Kids Cafe (cute ♪)”. (Both do not require reservation) In addition, there were ekiben shops at both ends.
There is a free space where you can eat and drink on the left side of the 2nd floor after going up the escalator, but everyone was eating ekiben there.

The ekiben shop also looks delicious.
The Japanese restaurant has dining car-style seats and windows, so you can choose ♡

② Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor where you can enjoy the feeling of a dining car

I went after 12:00 on Sunday, December 27, 2020, but I was surprised that there weren’t many customers inside the store. However, by the time we started eating, customers came in one after another. We went to the Japanese restaurant after 12:00 on Sunday, December 27, 2020. I was surprised that there weren’t many customers in the store. However, by the time we started eating, customers came in one after another.

Which one should I choose?
You can see the train from the window ♪
Wow ♡ Eggs are fluffy!

The price of food is mainly in the 1,300 to 1,900 yen range with salad. If you add other drinks, it will cost about 1,500 to 2,200 yen per person. We ate the cheapest omelet rice, but the sauce was authentic and delicious. (⇒ Hatchan wants to have a kids’ lunch, but he doesn’t eat it, right?!;)

I’ll sit in the dining car this time!

By the way, I was happy that the customer service was very pleasant. It’s been a while since I received such a pleasant customer service. As expected, the railway museum ♡

③ Kids cafe feels casual

The kids cafe is on the left end of the first floor after entering the entrance.

Light meals such as donuts and drinks are sold at the kids cafe. The kids space was dormant in Corona. The mini driving park just outside the kids space was also closed. I’m sorry,,!

My daughter who has a strong interest in ticket vending machines
Kotetsu Cafe is also recommended for children who like trains!
